Hi, I'm 27, I have a languages BA and MA and have worked full time. I would like to work in the intelligence corps but am undecided as to whether I should join as a soldier or as an officer. What key elements should I consider, and what would you advise?
Hello,
So the key difference is that as an officer you will be in a management role, whereas our soldiers are the practitioners of the role. Also, if joining as an officer, you are not guaranteed a place in the Corps prior to attending Sandhurst; you will need to pass selection during your time there and be successful at the Regiment Selection Board. For officers we take 8-10 per intake.
If you are looking to do a managerial role and do not mind that you may not end up in the Int Corps, then the officer role may for you!
I hope this helps,
Paul.
