In the Scots Dragoon guards will you see fighting or will You stick purely to the reconnaissance role on operation

If I am to go on to joining the Scots DG, will I see direct combat and will I have the opportunity to operate as a sniper, thank you

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your question.

The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards are a light cavalry regiment who provide reconnaissance. Their role is to provide a continuous stream of timely, accurate information to commanders so they can make important tactical decisions. However, in addition to this they are trained to fight enemy combatants using a wide range of equipment, from Sharpshooter rifles and machine guns to mortars and anti-tank missiles. There is every chance you could fulfil one of these specialist roles if you are selected for, and pass the relevant cadre.

They operate out of the Jackal 2 and the Coyote tactical support vehicle, and their light, agile force means they can be deployed quickly and are very reactive.

    I hope this helps.
