I’m quite nerdy, skinny and short, and I’m not exactly am aggressive or “laddy” guy, and my views typically tend to be quite left leaning politically. Do you think I’ll have a hard time fitting in? Will I be turned away for any of this?

Thanks for posing your question James. To nip the most important question in the bud, no, none of the traits you have listed would be a reason why the army would turn you away. We are a really broad church, be that physically, politically, socially or any other way you might want to compare us.
If your definition of nerdy is playing video games, the Army has a number of eSports teams, if it is tabletop gaming, we have clubs for that too. Equally, being short and skinny does not equate to your ability to meet the fitness standards, so I would still recommend that you give it a go. If you train, you can pass.
