I'm really interested in joining either the royal engineers, royal signals or REME, but I'm unsure on what to go to.

I'm interested in pursuing mechanical engineering but also want to do something with more action.

Robert N. Lead Recruiter Armed Forces Careers Office Sheffield

    Hi,

I am a Royal Engineer and my trade is a Fabricator Welder. I've been fortunate enough to do a wide variety of engineering within my given trade. Speaking as a recruiter, you will do much more of your trade as a soldier within the REME. If you are interested in variety, from experience, you will get many opportunities to cover a wider scope of engineering as well as combat as a Royal Engineer. As a Royal Engineer, after soldiering, your next scope of works is a 'Combat Engineer'. A Combat Engineer specialises in Mine Warfare (clearance and laying), Demolitions, Watermanship (the operation of boats and improvised rafts), Water Supply (producing drinking water from a variety of sources), Basic Engineering Principles and much more.

    Warm Regards,
