Im currently an NHS trauma specislist physio, I have no respiratory/critical care experience, does this matter?

Evie K. asked a question to Josh W.

I qualified with my physiotherapy degree in 2020 and undertook by band 5 rotations. However, I never did a respiratory or critical care rotation in the NHS. I now currently work specialising in trauma and Orthopaedics as a band 6 and have always had joining the army as a goal of mine. Does it matter that I haven't had amy respiratory/critical care experience? Would it put me at a disadvantage for getting a job?

    Hi Evie,

Great to hear you are looking to apply to join the army as a physiotherapist. As we take a range of candidates from those that are newly qualified to those, like yourself, with significant post graduate experience, having an area where you have had limited experience should not disadvantage you or adversely impact your application. Your current experience sounds like an excellent background to move from the NHS to the Army and will provide you plenty to talk about draw upon during the application process.
