I've been wondering this because I have a condition called aquagenic Utricaria and makes it difficult in water for long periods of times.
Hi Jacob!
Thanks for your question
So all junior soldiers and adult entries need to pass a basic swimming test whilst at phase 1 training. If you cannot complete the test due to needing more help, you will be taken through more lessons to build up your confidence and strengthen your swimming.
Hope this helps!
Hi Jacob, you will have some swimming sessions as part of your basic training PT program. There is a swimming assessment which you will do and either be recorded as a swimmer or non swimmer on your HR record. You do not have to pass any swim test and there are lots of soldiers in the Army who can't swim. There will be the opportunity during training and you career to improve your swimming if it is something you wish to do. Thanks.
Hi Jacob, it might not be swimming that would hold you back but actually your condition - if you are on exercise for long periods and it's raining, if this causes your condition to flare up that might be more of an issue? As HR we have soldiers deployed to countries that are also damp and humid which may also be an issue for you.
