Dog handlers work the same amount of time as any other soldier however they often work more weekends than some others, this is to help look after the dogs on site, this would be up to your chain of command as to how often this will happen, you are usually put on a rota, you are usually put on a rota but other people may cover your shift if they are not going home over that weekend. Other times would involve exercises and preparation for deployments where you may end up on base for a prolonged amount of time.
