    Hi,

I am not in the REME but when it comes to Vehicle Maintenance in the Royal Armoured Corps, I am trained to a level but I am not a specialist. This will be the same in the REME, you will be the specialist in managing your team. That doesn’t mean to say you can’t get stuck in though. Often it’s all hands to the pump to get a task done. I used to cover off my gap in technical knowledge by asking some of my soldiers to direct me how to help them. I provided an extra pair of hands but also got to see some of their leadership skills which allowed me to better report on them.

In summary you can help but you won’t be the specialist and it won’t be your primary Duty.

    I hope this helps.
