If I sign up to be a reserve can I go home each night when doing my basic training?

I'm currently looking at joining the reserves but I have children at home, will I be able to commute each day for training or do I have to stay "on site"?

    Hi.
Thanks for reaching out. For drill nights you will be on site for about two hours, normally on a weekday. As the basic training courses are more intense you will be required to stay on site overnight. Your first element of basic training Foundation can be completed modular (every other weekend for five weekends) or consolidated (nine consecutive days) for these you are required to stay on site. Your final element of basic training can only be completed in the consolidated format of fourteen consecutive days. Again for this element you are required to stay on site.
If you have any more questions please let me know.
