If I'm already at BCU studying Nursing, can I take a gap year to do the necessary assessments and join second year after

I'm a second year nursing student at BCU and would like to join as a Student Nursing Soldier. I have had a mare at this point trying to join and everything is finally on its way to being sorted so I was wondering if it was possible to take a year out and do my assessment centre, AMS and Basic and re-join uni at the start of second year instead of restarting uni from First Year.

    Hi there,

As you are already in university I think the best option is to complete the course whilst doing your assessment centre and AMS selection during this time. You’ll then do your Phase 1 on completion of the course.

The alternative as you suggest of jumping out and then back in again could well be possible but I would simply ask your recruiter or reach out to the Army Medical Service recruitment team to ask the question. They will be more than happy to help on - 01276 412988. It could be the case that you end up redoing year 1 but this time you would have a salary and support from the Army.
