"I want to join the Dragoon Guards, but friends/family doubt me. How did you handle outside pressure?

Tyler C. asked a question to James S.

I'm currently facing several challenges as I work toward joining the Royal Armoured Corps, I’ve been facing a lot of scrutiny from friends and family who either don’t support the idea or believe I shouldn’t go through with it. Their doubts have created pressure but I am still steadfast on joining.

At the end of the day it is your decision. If you are under 18 and require your family to sign for you, then that will impact when you can join.

That said, the support of friends and family will make your time in the Army easier. We all need a support network.

They will all have their reasons why they have there doubts, have they told you why? If not, then asking them to explain. You be able to myth bust any misconceptions. Or take then to your local careers office, they can ask questions and maybe get some peace of mind there.
