for joining 1 and possibly 7 rha I want to do the fac/jtac qual course and I was just wondering if there's things such as rank restrictions, or other prerequisites before doing it. and also what position within the ra would be a good start.

Hi there Sean,

A lot of our JTAC start out in the role of Artillery Observer to gain some skills in coordinating fires prior to them training as a JTAC. You must be a Cpl (Bombardier for the RA community) to be a JTAC so this role comes after you've gained some experience.

You can join 7RHA from Phase 2 training and they have roles in both Artillery Observer and ultimately JTAC.
