I wanna join but I do not like the idea for being a long way from family as I’ve seen that the bases are quite far.

The first unit you post to is usually a medical regiment or field hospital this is changing and so are the names so can get confusing. This is designed to be able to help you to get postings closer to home although this is not always possible there a number of factors taken into consideration. however if you do get posted away you often get extra allowances such as travel to help you get home to visit family or fuel costs to cover expenses for your car journeys to and from work. This will all depend on distance, martial status and other factors. All of this is explained to you in more detail once you join along with financial briefs to help you save money etc.
