I’ve always wanted to do something with animals but I don’t have experience or qualifications. Can I start here?

I think I clicked the wrong category, apologies. I have only one gcse and only one qualification in adult care but my dream was to be in the army but I also live animals I wanna mix them both together so I love my job

Hey Rachael, thanks for your question. The great thing about the army is it often gives you the training you need when you arrive, so you don't need to have experience before you apply.

If you would like to become a dog handler for example, you don't need any previous qualifications. Check out the Army Jobs website for more information on the role. If you like horses, maybe you could consider becoming a Trooper in Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. Again, you don't need any prior experience as the army will teach you how to ride and care for your horse. Find out more about that role here.

At the other end of the scale, if you wanted to become a veterinary officer, you would need a Veterinary Degree and Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

So yes, you can certainly work with animals in the army and you don't necessarily need any prior experience.

    Good luck with your application.
