I'm looking into being a metalsmith or something similar but I don't have Higher Maths, is there any wiggle-room at all?

Ben F. asked a question to Shaun M.

I have Nat 5 English, Nat 4 Biology and Nat 4 Maths under my belt.

    Hi Ben,
As long as you have a grade 4 in maths that's all that matters, it doesn't matter if it is higher or foundation a 4 in maths is a 4 in maths so you would be eligible for metalsmith with the grade you have in maths currently.
    Hope this helps. A :)

    Thanks for the question, Ben!
I think you are getting a little confused about the requirements, as English and Scottish qualifications are called different things.
English students, which I’m guessing you are by what you have said, need a minimum of three GCSE Grade A*–C/9-4 in English, Science, and Maths whereas Scottish student need National 4, in English, Science, and Higher Math because they do not sit GCSE’s.
So YES!! Congratulations you do have the required academic qualifications. I hope this helps and wish you well for a successful application into the army as a metalsmith.
