I'm looking for any information about a British Army Medic named David Halpern. He was KIA in Sicily.

My great grandfather David Halpern was a Doctor and a soldier in the British Army. My grandmother Peta Gore was a Jewish refugee from England.

Thank you for your question and sorry for the loss of your great grandfather.

Your best option would be to contact the royal army medical corps association, if they don’t know how to locate information they will be the best people to steer in the right direction.

    Sorry I couldn’t help further

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your question.

The best place to look is the War Records. You can look online and will need your Great Grandfathers service number (you should be able to find this on his medals if you have them).

I did a quick search and found a Captain in the RAMC which I assume is your Great Grandfather. If you register you will be able to see his fill Army record.

    https://www.forces-war-records.co.uk/namesearch/?FirstName=David&Surname=Halpern&RecordType=NotSelected&RecordDateStartYear=1700&RecordDateEndYear=2020&Step=1

    Good luck with your search.

Well, he lived next door me and my family in Birmingham in 1939 - but missed our bomb! By chance I'm piecing together the whole story including neighbours and have lots of rather poignant information about Halperns and Foggos and Moors to share, mostly gathered out of Ancestry UK. If you'd like to get in touch direct, that'd be good. If you want an early glimpse of the basic story, got to www.just1.org.uk/moseley
