I’m deciding between two roles: Logistic Supply Specialist in the RLC or Logistic Specialist in the RE.

Both seem valuable, but I’m unsure which will offer better skills and experience both for my Army career and for transitioning to civilian life. Which path would be more beneficial for gaining transferable skills in logistics and other sectors?

    Hello Idris,
Both roles are valuable and equally offer qualifications that will help you to transition to a logistics job civilian life.

They are both very similar roles. The main difference is that in the Royal Engineers (RE) you will complete a Combat Engineering course and you will specialise in logistics within an Engineer Regiment, whereas with the Royal Logistic Corps you can be attached to any unit, so you'll gain a broader experience of your trade within the British Army.

I'm a Logistic Specialist (Supply) in the RLC and have been attached to RE. I loved my time with the Engineers and would happily work with them again, but I'm also grateful that I've been able to experience the challenges that my trade has to offer outside the Engineers.

My advice would be to research the RLC and RE separately and see which appeals to you most.

Try the following links to get you started:

I hope that goes some way toward helping your decision, good luck!

    Hi Steven,
Thank you for going more in depth with me on the roles.

I’m currently trying to decide between several roles in the British Army: Logistics Supply Specialist in the Royal Logistics Corps, Logistic Specialist in the Royal Engineers, Technical Support Specialist in the REME, and Supply Chain Operator in the Royal Signals. I’m drawn to logistics because I have a genuine interest in logistics management and believe I can add value by ensuring my unit has what it needs, when it needs it.

However, I’m finding it difficult to choose between these roles and which regiment I would like to be apart of , as they share many similarities. Any advice or insights you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
