I'm a 16 year old female, who would love to be an artillery officer. Do you have any words of advice?

    Hi there,

I would say that to know you would love to do it is an excellent start! Knowing early on like this will open up the opportunities to have funding support throughout your A-Levels and even during university through our scholarships and bursaries. More details on these opportunities can be found here - https://jobs.army.mod.uk/regular-army/what-you-get/bursaries-scholarships/. This is exactly what I did and it gave me the security in my future through sixth form, knowing I was set up to do what I really wanted to when I finished education.

Apply early as there are elements such as the medical and selection that can take a while and we don't want these to be your blocker. You will receive support along the way with our officer recruiting team who will be connected to you after the initial administrative part and will help schedule the process. If you do go to university then engage with the University Officer Training Corp or even your local Army Reserve unit as any experience you can get will give you an excellent start in the initial stages of your time at Sandhurst.

But above all else, keep pushing forward and driving for that goal you want to achieve. The process may take time and effort but it will be all worth it in the end. My 10 years of service have been so exciting and I have truly done things I wouldn't do anywhere else.
