Hi there,
Whilst the needs of the army ultimately come first, there are a number of roles where there is a strong possibility to be based in or around London.
The first role I can recommend is Ceremonial Gunner, as part of the Royal Artillery. This role would allow you to remain in London once you have finished training, provided you pass the Potential Recruit course. You would have the chance to take part in high profile events and learn how to ride a horse, conducting ceremonial duties. You can find out more on the army jobs website - https://apply.army.mod.uk/roles/royal-artillery/gunner-ceremonial
Another role which provides the opportunity to base in London is the Guards, as part of the infantry. For example, the Coldstream Guards are based in Central London with troops also in Windsor (which isn't too far from London). As a guardsman, you would conduct ceremonial duties, such as guarding Buckingham Palace, alongside soldier duties such as deploying on operations overseas or assisting with humanitarian work. More information on this role can be found here - https://apply.army.mod.uk/roles/infantry/guardsman
Lastly, if you aren't sure about a full time career in the regular army, then let me steer you in the direction of a career within the army reserves. There are numerous reserve centres in and around London, allowing you to commit to army life without the need to move away. The minimum commitment can be as little as 19 days. What's more, there are a number of different career/ job types available as a reservist. You can find out more here - https://apply.army.mod.uk/what-we-offer/army-reserve/army-reserve-units
Hope that helps
