Hello, Sam and thanks for the question.
You are able to get any tattoo that you wish, you don't need to seek permission from the Army for a Military Medal tattoo, but thanks for considering to ask us and I think it is good of you to honour your Grandfather.
If you are looking to join the Military, just make sure that the tattoo isn't above the collar or below the sleeve to give you a better chance of getting into the Army.
