A degree in media-makeup? That sounds pretty interesting to be honest. I'm not sure how you would be judged negatively for having that. I have worked with all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds, with all sorts of qualifications and experiences. I currently work with someone who, in their spare time and on leave, works as a movie and TV extra. I also know someone who joined late having been a roadie for a large entertainment company.

We all have our own story, but one of the great things about the army, is we are all brought together and have a place to tell it. You will be amazed at how vast and various the backgrounds of our service personnel is. We really are a cross section of society.

I think, if anything, people will be fascinated by what you can do. Also, expect to be approached for help with Battlefield Casualty Drills training (or first aid to everyone else) because of your expertise.

Hey there

I cannot think of a single situation where that would be viewed negatively. Everyone in the Army has different skills and education, everyone has something of value to add. As Greg said above, I can immediately see your experience being used to enhance any training scenarios that were produced for MATT 3 - Mandatory annual training tests BCD Battle Casualty Drills.

Although I work in a Logistics trade within an Engineering environment we have all sorts of people from many different backgrounds. Chefs, students, school leavers, bricklayers, office workers and I have worked with a fair few soldiers who have arrived with degrees, ranging from performing Arts to Law.

We all come from different backgrounds and have our own strengths and weaknesses, the Army will harness your strengths and help you work on your weaknesses. Attitude is the key to the Army. I have instructed at Phase 1 and I know that almost anyone with the right attitude can add value to the Army, no matter your previous pre-Army life.
