I have applied to be a dog handler. There isn’t a lot of detail on the actual role. What is day to day life/week as one?

I understand the waiting time and how popular the role is. The website doesn’t explain enough about the role in depth and what your average “shifts” would be. How realistic is it to maintain a relationship outside of this role? After training is complete could I live at home? (40 miles from Melton)

Shifts may include working weekends to allow people to go home and visit family, during the week you will be responsible for looking after your own service dog including training. relationships within the military can be difficult especially when it comes to deployments but communication is important and you both need to understand the possibilities and risk of the impact this may have on your relationships. Once training is completed if you are based within 50 miles of your home you may get permission to live at home from Chain of Command anything beyond the 50 mile radius would make this impractical and unsafe where you would then be expected to stay on camp.
