I am Police officer looking to join 7 rifles reserves.How long do deployments typically last when on exercise abroad?
Also, what is the expectation on deployment availability. As this will vary due to being response Police officer

Hi Jack,
Deployments vary massively based on the task/commitment that each unit is aligned to at any one time.
It could be anything from a few days up to 9 months deployed. That being said, Reservists have far more say in what they do, when and how they deploy anyway. So you won't have to worry about things conflicting with your commitments to the Police.
Part time/ Reserves only ask for a minimum commitment of 27 days a year. Anymore then that is up to you really. The more time you put in, the more you get out of it.

An over-sea exercise will usually see SP deployed for 5-7 weeks.
