How strict are the army on the grades required for roles? Is there any leeway?

Im very interested in the EW & signal intelligence role. I have all my of GCSES bar 1, even a level 3 BTEC in business management. But I only have a grade 3/D in maths. Should I redo maths or is there any chance with my other grades they would let me on?

Hi, great question. Unfortunately for certain roles there is a GCSE requirement due to the training / apprenticeship you are loaded on for the job role. In this case you will need GCSE maths grade 4. My advice would be to either re-take your GCSE or do your Level 2 Maths (at college/evening course) - I believe the Level 2 is funded by the Govn so would be free. You could always join a different part of the army that's similar but who don;t require the Maths GCSE (although off the top of my head most in this type of job role do) and then do your Lv 2 maths in the army (the army will put you through it anyway if you don't have it on joining) and then transfer to the trade you wanted to join. There's options but for a quick one, apply whilst doing your Lv 2 maths and by the time you need to make a job choice you may have completed the necessary requirement for your chosen job role. I hope this makes sense. Good luck!
