Hi Ben,
Everyone even us REME tradesmen are soldiers. However when it comes to us our trade comes first so we will spend our day to day doing what it is we joined and trained to do but there is on occasion times in which we have to do more "soldiering" such as exercises, ranges or keeping up to date with our skills as we are all indeed soldiers.
