Hi jack, during your basic training you will taught all basics combat skills, again on your phase 2 will revise the skills where you spend a week in the field doing
BCCS ( Basic Close Combat Skills). Yearly training like MATTs (Military Annual Training Tests). You will be always doing some combat in your career with RLC. We are soldiers first then the trade. All RLC roles the biggest support to the front line, like Ammunition Technician, drivers, suppliers etc.
    Hope its helps your query.
    All the best.

We are all soldiers first, tradesmen second. We are therefore all trained in and must maintain basic infantry skills. All infantry and front line units require support by the RLC and it is therefore possible to voice a preference to be posted into these roles.
