Hello,
The varies from year to year depending on predicted staffing levels etc...
The majority of jobs there will be 1 or 2 training places available, the exception being general practice which usually has somewhere between 10-15.
Some years there will be lots of competition, sometimes though it just falls nicely into place - my cohort who started specialty training 4 years ago all got their first choice specialties.
