Hi Alex, great question.
Army training will vary depending on the role you decide to do. For example if you were to become an Infantry Soldier you would complete the Combat Infantry Course (28 weeks) at The Infantry Training Centre Catterick (ITC(C)). Here, you do your basic training and your Infantry training (Phase 1 & 2). You learn essential skills such as weapons training, survival, first aid and map reading while building stamina and fitness.
If you wanted to be a Vehicle Mechanic You would start your initial military training (14-weeks, phase 1). You learn the soldiering basics such as weapons training, survival, first aid and map reading and fitness.
Then you go to the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering at MoD Lyneham, Wiltshire. Here, you learn to be a mechanic. Over the next 46 weeks, you are taught how to fix vehicles and carry out maintenance, repairs, and inspections. Tanks, trucks, quads â you’ll work with all kinds of vehicles. You will also get car and HGV driving licences.
You can find more information on training lengths of time for specific roles on the Army's role finder - https://apply.army.mod.uk/roles
Hope this helps.
