How long does basic training for infantry soldiers last, and what skills are taught?

What are the eligibility requirements for joining the Communications, Intelligence, and IT branches of the UK Army? Is there any prior IT or communications experience needed before joining, or can I join with no experience in these fields?

    Hello Benjamin,

The Combat Infantry Course usually takes 28 weeks.

The British Army has seven main career streams which are: Combat, Medical, Intelligence & Communication, Logistics & Support, HR & Finance, Engineering, and Music. A lot of roles within these overlap other streams, and we don't have an "IT" branch, but IT skills feature or are useful in most roles.

There are lots of roles within Intelligence & Communication, each with their own eligibility requirements, you can find out more here: Intelligence, communications & IT.

You don't need any experience in the field you go into, but you do need to meet the eligibility requirements as a minimum.

I hope that's helped, but please feel welcome to follow up with further questions in the comments.
