It is usual to be promoted to captain after three years from commissioning.
Deployment length is not set in stone. It can be anything from one day onwards depending on the task. Operational tours are usually six months and there will be a lot of additional holiday given to you on top of your normal allowance afterwards. Then there is usually a long break for any subsequent deployment.
