The work life balance in the military can be amazing. It's swings and roundabouts that you may be away for 6-8mths at a time but when you're at work you can have a life that you can have as a civilian - clubs and hobbies outside of the Army for example, live wherever you want to live. No-one is going to ask you to put in 1/2 a days leave for a medical appointment or if you have to take your car in for an MOT or your cat / dog to the vet! We get more holidays in the Army then any civilian employer (35 days+).
