How is Briefing and AOSB different for a medical student looking to get the bursary compared to normal officers

I am in the UOTC and in first year medicine, I’ve been advised to start thinking about briefing soon and get it done before the end of my academic year so I can do AOSB ASAP, but I’m wondering what the time frames of briefing and AOSB should be and how I can prepare for both to increase my chances of success

    Hi Jack,

As a non-medic I will do my utmost to answer this one but upfront I would highly recommend getting you application in because this then opens the dialogue between you and your recruiter who can answer these questions much better than I!

From my knowledge, for medical bursars the pathway looks something along the lines of: Officer Familiarisation Visit - AOSB Main Board - Army Medical Services Arms Selection board and then a yes or no whether you have been successful. For bursaries you should apply before the end of January and not later than your second year to qualify for the full amount.

My main tips would be; be fit, brush up on your general knowledge and current affairs, and be yourself.
