You need to apply to join as an Officer and to they start training at Sandhurst. You will be asked to choose three Regiments/Corps that you would like to join and visit each one.
While at that Regiment/Corp, you will have interview's and be shown around. They will decide if they want you as an Officer or not.
You will then decide who you want to go for if all three choices have come back to you asking to join them.
Hi there,
Thanks for your question.
It is a good idea to contact your local careers officer and express interest in joining the Parachute Regiment (if you fill out the online application someone will contact you). That way you may be able to visit the Regimental before starting any training; this allows you to decide if the Regiment is right for you, and allows the recruiters to decide if you’re right for them.
Once you've passed the initial Officer selection and started at Sandhurst you'll attend several visits and events which are aimed at helping you select the correct regiment. The final selection phase is the Regimental Interviews, and if successful you will be offered a place with your chosen regiment.
After leaving Sandhurst you’ll complete a Young Officers’ Course, which for the infantry in the Platoon Commanders Battle Course. This will teach you the specifics of your trade and give you additional qualifications required to run complex weapons ranges. After this you will attend P Company, and if successful, then a parachute jumps course to gain your wings.
It’s a long process but that is what makes it so prestigious!
Good luck with your application and if you have any further questions please feel free to come back to me.
