I underestimated how hard running 2K in 10+ minutes is! I'm currently getting 12+ minutes.
Hiya don't worry about it to much but try downloading the army 100% fitness. That will help you
I've downloaded it but not used it yet. Hopefully it will help because it's getting a little frustrating not seeing any massive progression after each run. I'm strong but slow.
Thanks
Charlotte have you tried doing some interval training? and running a bigger distance I find training a bigger distance helps me 2km becomes easier. use the app as it will help.
I have only just started running in Covid so I'm probably being a little impatient! My first run was 5K in 28 minutes and since then I have been running 2K. I did try last week splitting 2K up into 6, 400 meter runs with a 30 second rest between, trying to get 400 meters in 1 minute 40-ish seconds. Is that the way to go; interval/long runs?
Intervals and longer runs work for me and once a week do the 2km best effort, but make sure you have a rest day or two so your muscles can build and heal. that's a very good 5km time. so don't over think the 2km just run hard and fast it's just 1.2miles.
And am I okay to do bodybuilding style training in between the runs - I try and hit legs and upper body both twice a week? If I'm being completely honest I think it's more of a physiological thing. Thanks for your advice - really appreciate it.
Nothing wrong with doing that all, but I think you'll be fine it's all mind over matter I have days where I think I can't possibly do it but I run hard and as fast as I can as I think this is only 10 minutes of my life lets get this done.
I'll really go for it on my next run. Thanks again, Katrin :)
Good luck but make sure you do it on a sensible surface so you don't hurt yourself
Is tarmac okay?
Yes, I mean be aware of uneven ground.
Okay, will do.
