    Hi there Andrews,

This is one of the questions that can be really fun to answer but also challenging.

I think there are multiple things you can do to find a role you love.

Before you even look at the role finder I would sit down and make a list of the things you want to get out of joining the army. Maybe how you want it to allow you to grow as a person or even whether you wish to travel etc.

I would also think about what jobs you would want to do after you have left the army and the sorts of skills you will need to do that. All soldiers will become civilians again at some point or another so it’s always good to be prepared.

Once you have bottomed out what you want from the army, now look at the role finder and see if there are any cross overs with roles and your needs.

From here maybe attend an Insight day to find out more of the army and try to speak to people in the role you want to do, either in person or on here.

The final thing that is important about finding a role you love is to find people you want to work with and are “your people.” You will be doing at least 3 years with them so you better join a team of people you like. This last one is hard to find until you are already in training and meet more people but if you go into training with an idea of what you want you can then confirm it once you meet more people.

I joined the reserves as a “try before you buy” before I transferred as a regular to ensure I was making the right decision. This could be an option for you too?

    Hope this helps

Yes this provides clarity and its getting me excited. I have tried to progress my application but faced with some challenges of me being stuck at some point in the site and unable to load. can you advise on this as well?

    Andrews,

Im more of the lived experience guy who can offer advice on the Army itself but i can see if there is any way i can help. Have any errors come up or maybe you can let me know what point in the process this jam has occurred? This is entirely not my area of expertise but i might be able to feed back to find out if there is an issue. Dont share any personal information in this thread as it is open.
