How do applications to the Royal Engineers work?
I am interested in the EOD&S role in the royal engineers, but on the army's site it says that you apply to the group rather than the role. Does this mean that I could apply for EOD&S and potentially end up doing something completely different?

Hi, unfortunately you cannot pick a 'trade' within the Royal Engineers to join. Once you are in the Royal Engineers they will look at your quals, expertise areas, likelihood to succeed within different trades etc. EO&D is a very niche trade but a hugely important one and if you have the right quals and capability there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that you wouldn't be able to go into that trade.
