Hi Jezliah,
To be an OPTI you will need to pass our specialist selection first. This will consist of 3 days doing academic tests, information extraction, briefing and team tasks. You will also receive a more in-depth talk through both the OPMI and OPTI roles. If you are successful, you will be required to give a preference of what trade you want to do and will start your vetting proccess.
You will require this vetting to start the trade aspect of your training, where you will learn the basics of working with signals intelligence. This is a 15 week course and will be very mentally testing. This is then followed by a 5 week PNCO course that will teach you the basics of being a Junior Non-Commissioned Officer in the British Army, before posting to your first unit.
There will be opportunities to specialise in the Linguist or Cyber analyst roles, which have their own entrance criteria and training pipeline.
I hope this helps,
Paul.
