Hello Jordan,

As an OPMI in the Intelligence Corps your role will be to provide support to the unit or organisation you are supporting. There are roles within the Corps that will see you working closely with the Infantry at Company level and this may see you accompany them on patrols while on exercise and operations, however your primary role will be the provision of intelligence. Also, there are a wide range of roles you can do as an OPMI, so you may not get the chance to work with the Infantry at this level.

If you want to do the role of an Infantry soldier, then obviously the Infantry is the best place to do this. Most Infantry battalions do have their own intelligence cells, so you still have the option to do a specialism.

My advice to you would be that if you are looking to do a range of roles that may include working with the Infantry, then the Intelligence Corps is the ideal role. However, if you are looking to do a combat role for the majority of you career, then the Infantry may be the place for you!
