How common is it for an active soldier to wear glasses during their time in the military?

If that soldier needs glasses, then very common.

If your eyes are that bad then you will be picked up during the join process by the medical team. It is fine to wear glasses as a soldier. There are even mounts built into the eye protection for prescription lenses to be fitted.

That said, some soldiers opt for contacts, or pay to have there eyes lasered. Some roles do require better eyes than others. Snipers for example and I'd guess air crew.

Thank you for the response. Does fairly short eyesight effect anything significant as an infantry officer? Or is it manageable.
