How best to prepare for/improve my chances of being accepted as a medical officer bursar (doctor)?

I am due to start postgraduate-medicine in September. I am very interested in joining as a bursar and applying in the winter break of my first year. In the meantime, how best should I prepare to improve my chances of being accepted? I have the impression that this is quite a competitive course.

It absolutely is competitive, that being said the Army is as a whole.

It's a collective nature we all share and relish to propel us to new heights within our respective roles.

As a potential Dr my conscious bias would indication that intellectually you are on the right path already.

Build on your confidence if needed. Not big headed, be humble, It will put you in good sted. For Physical training assistance if required, I'd encourage you to download the Army fit app, it's free and if you are looking for tips it's useful for a beginner or to simply identify how to encourage your body to become more physically robust.

I don't think the Army fit app is available still if it is then its definitely worth downloading. If not then look at the current medical standards and ensure that you can exceed them so always aim for maximum scores as you would be expected to lead by example.

As for bursaries you can start your Army application whenever you like. Once started you will be allocated an officer recruiter who will be able to discuss with you in more detail about bursaries etc you would normally have to of completed or applied in your first year but the details for bursaries can be found on the Army website under application processes.
