Hi Tori, I'm a 3rd year student considering joining the army as a Dr. How competitive is a cadetship?

Rory C. asked a question to Tori C.

During non-term times I don't have that much on my CV that applies. I'm really interested in joining but I'd like to have a realistic view of my options. I'd also like to know how much choice you have in where you spend your time, I have a long term partner so this plays as a factor

Joining the Army as a Dr is extremely rewarding for many reasons.

One more so then what most get, is that as a trained Dr starting wage far exceeds the base line that most of us start at.

We always get a preference on where we are based. That being said, if there isn't a job opening at your desired location then you could find yourself far from where you'd prefer. I began my Army career single with no dependents. I now have a wife and 5 children. So it's very accommodating and do able should you and your partner desire such an opportunity.
