Hi there RLC drivers partake in 35 week training and 12-18 months for phase 2. Do they get time off for holidays? Thanks

This doesn’t affect my mentality to joining the army, just a curiosity. Thank you

Individual Trade Training (ITT) aka 'Phase 2' for the RLC Driver role takes approximately 25 weeks depending on course availability and individual progress. It is possible but unlikely that ITT would take 12-18 months.

Every soldier gets 30 days of annual leave plus bank holidays. Getting leave authorised early in your career will largely depend on what stage you're at:

    • Basic Training - remote chance: normally only permitted during holiday periods or for compassionate reasons (i.e. death of immediate family).
    • Initial Trade Training - realistic possibility: when not on a course you can request leave, but courses take priority.
    • Unit - likely: subject to essential duties (e.g. deployment).
