    Hi Brooke,

First off, I’m really sorry to hear about your dad. It’s clear that he’s left a strong legacy, and it’s inspiring to see how you’re thinking about following in his footsteps into a career in the army

Choosing the right role in the Army is a big decision, and it’s totally normal to feel uncertain about which path to take. It might help to start by thinking about what drives you the most. If you’re drawn to the idea of pushing your physical limits, being on the front line could be an incredible challenge, one that requires resilience and a lot of grit, just like your dad showed. On the other hand, if you’re more interested in strategy, planning, or problem-solving, there are many roles that play a crucial part in supporting those on the front line, often involving intense mental challenges.

A good way to approach this is to explore different role. Have a visit on the Army Job website and scroll through the different roles and jobs on there. Alternatively, if you’re like me and prefer to watch videos you can find lots of useful information about different job roles on the Army Jobs page on YouTube. They can offer insight into what life is like in various parts of the Army and there are a few on different training establishments too like AFC Harrogate.

You can also complete your application online before knowing which job you fancy. Once you submit your application you should receive a phone call within a couple of days, from there you can be invited to an Army career centre where they can give you lots of information through a presentation too. Whether it’s a combat role or something more behind the scenes, every job is vital to the overall mission, and each comes with its own unique set of challenges and rewards.

Ultimately, the right choice is the one that aligns with what you’re passionate about and what will make you feel fulfilled in your service. It’s about finding where you can make the biggest impact, whether that’s in the thick of the action or supporting your comrades from another angle.

Whatever you decide, it’s clear that you’ve got a strong connection to the Army and a deep sense of purpose. That’s something your dad would definitely be proud of.

Feel free to ask me anything else, or if you need more information / advice im happy to help. Good luck!!
