I'm 28, married with two children. Would housing be available to my family after basic training, while I'm still in specialized training for a role like the Royal Engineers (enlisted), which can last up to a year? That's a long time to live away from family. Thank you!
Hi, great question. During Phase 1 (14 weeks) you have to be away from family. However, if you have a long Phase 2 there is scope that your family can move with you, or even into Service Families Accommodation (SFA) at your place of work as by Phase 2 you will know where you are being posted / assigned to. The Army will pay for your removals and you will also get a set disturbance allowance (to contribute towards new school uniform, new set up costs for broadband etc as examples),. I hope this helps answer your question.
Thank you Jen. That was super helpful!
