Hi if I don’t like my job role after being a year or so into my role can I transfer to the navy

    You can apply for a transfer up to 2 times. Transfers are a case by case basis and depend on a number of thing. Qualifications, availability, ect.


    Moving to the Navy is not a transfer. You would be leaving the Army. I'm not sure on the process (if there is a path to do that). It might be a case of leaving the Army as per the normal root and then applying to the Navy.

    The "Return of service" would be 4 years. The reason being you get alot of investment in your training so if must be deemed worthwhile to both yourself and the service.


    Having worked with the Navy both on Operations and in the UK for several years at a time, i can say they are a fantastic organisation, having said that, the Army offers far much opportunities for personnel development, travel, sports, deployments etc. Personally, if you feel you might not like the Army I'm certain you wouldn't like the Navy.


    You are able to transfer between the Army, Navy and RAF. Whilst it's possible and gains you a Tri service medal for it's achievement. Please be aware this will have a negative impact on your progression through the ranks.
