Hi.
There is really no right answer to this question as members across the whole of the Army attend and Pass Special Forces selection. There is a clear indication that the majority of successful applicants come from a more combat background, mainly the Parachute Regiment and other Combat specific roles. Although the Corps also have fantastic pass rates i.e. Royal Engineers, RLC, REME and The Royal Artillery.
This does not mean that this is what would be best for you, as not everyone is successful in passing. As you cannot join directly into a Special Forces role, my advice as a career adviser would be to join in a role that you are interested in, and could see yourself continuing to be should you be unsuccessful on selection.
Warm Regards,
Rob
