Good morning, thank you for the question. To be fair there are roles within the Armed Forces that could be considered less 'combat facing' than others. However, I really must stipulate that the British Army is part of the Armed Forces. Even chefs in the Army are 'Soldiers always...'. That is your first role, a Soldier. The trade (if you join a Corps that has them) comes second. There is always potential that you could be put in harms way, no matter what Service, Corps, Arm, etc you join to fulfil a duty, need or mission in sometimes hostile conditions. That is why you are trained to a high standard. This is definitely not a decision to be taken lightly. Service life can be extremely rewarding, in ways a civilian could never really understand. But it is also very demanding, and asks a lot. But whatever Service you join, Navy, RAF or Army. You have the potential to become the best version of you that you can be. Give this one some thought. If I'm honest, if this is something you're concerned about, I would give the Armed Forces a pass, and look to do something else - and if so, don't beat yourself up about it if you choose not to. It doesn't make you any less of a person, it's just not for you and this life is definitely not for everyone. If you have any more questions, queries or concerns. Don't be afraid to get back in touch and good luck in whatever you choose to do.
