Milda Z. asked a question to Katie -.
Hi there,
Unfortunately it’s hard for me to say whether you could make it work. I can however highlight some things that might make it difficult.
Firstly is that you will need to be away from your family during training. There will be times you can go back and see them but there are also times when you will not. There is a great support structure to help with this but it’s worth being aware off. I have a young family and it can sometimes be hard to juggle. My wife is extremely supportive and that helps.
Secondly, while you are able to join up until 36 you will be physically and mentally in a different place to the younger people you join with. This can be a blessing in that you mentally might not find it as hard as you will be more pragmatic about the whole thing and you will bring life experience to what you do, but it could also be challenging when you are being ordered around by some people in their early 20s. I cant say how you would react to that.
I joined when I was 27 which was older for my intake as Sandhurst at the time but I’m really glad that I did and do not regret it.
I hope this helps.
