George C. asked a question to Connor T.
George great question! As it happens I am ramp surfing in my profile picture!
To become rearcrew (door gunner) in the Army Air Corps you first have to have served a minimum amount of time in the Army Air Corps (this role is only available to Air Corps) as either groundcrew or aviation communications, the minimum amount of time served is however long it takes you to reach your first recommendation for promotion, usually this takes around 3/4 years. Upon reaching this milestone you are then eligible to attend the CBAT aircrew aptitude test at RAF Cranwell, should you reach the required score on this challenging test then you will then go for your aircrew medical, passing the medical you are then ready to start the rearcrew training courses.
Becoming a pilot is a little different, let me know if you want the details for that.
I should also stress that all the rearcrew process is dependent on there being available spaces at the time.
All the best!
