    Good evening,

If you are joining as a regular soldier, then you're paid a rate of £15,985 per year as a trainee, increasing to £20,400 as a private. This will increase as you progress through the ranks.

If you join an as officer, you're paid a rate of £27,818 per annum whilst at Sandhurst, increasing with promotion throughout your career.

Just to add that each year, everyone in the army receives a pay increase so the figures above will alter slightly in the future.

There are also specialist roles in the army where the pay is slightly higher, such as Doctor or Chaplain.

If you want to know more about the rates of pay for different roles and ranks, along with other benefits in the army, then take a look at the army careers website (https://apply.army.mod.uk/en/what-we-offer/army-life/benefits).

    Hope that helps
